Performed by Ma Li (馬麗) and Zhai Xiaowei (翟孝偉).
The music is composed by San Bao, his works include the music of the film - The Road Home directed by Zhang Yimou starred by Ziyi Zhang, this music is originally from a very popular TV episodes in China, named Qian Shou (牵手 hand in hand).
The girl (Ma, Li) was a beautiful promising professional ballerina when she lost her right arm in a car accident in 1996. She was only 19. Her handsome boy friend walked away from her.
She tried to kill herself only to be saved by her parents. Her love for her parents gave her the strength to live. She learned how to live her life independently.
She learned how to write Chinese beautifully and how to do many things including combing her hair, which she had to cut short from the waist-length to shoulder-length. She learned to cook and to wash clothes ... In a few months she opened her small bookstore.
Five years later in 2001, she was invited to compete at the 5th national special performing art competition for handicaps and won the gold medal. That success gave her the hope to return to her beloved stage.
In 2002, a handsome 20-year-old young man (Li, Tao) madly fell in love with her. She ran a way from him for fear of being hurt again.
After she disappeared in Beijing, Tao searched her up and down despite his parents' strong objection and ridicule.

In 2002, a handsome 20-year-old young man (Li, Tao) madly fell in love with her. She ran a way from him for fear of being hurt again.
After she disappeared in Beijing, Tao searched her up and down despite his parents' strong objection and ridicule.
He finally found her dancing in a bar. They have never been separated since.
They were very broke when SARS was spreading because all theaters were closed. In 2004, he got a license to be her legitimate agent and was trying to help her develop a unique performance. In a cold snowy night, when the two huddled in an underpass to wait for the sunrise in order to catch a bus after a long day at a movie shooting site working as extras, she suddenly had the urge to dance in the snow with him.
She had used her dance to tell him her story so many times before and this time, after their "dance" ended, he suddenly realized that THIS should be her unique performance.
In September 2005, she ran into a 21-year-old young man (Zhai, Xiaowei). He was being trained to be a cyclist for the national special olympics. He had never danced before.
He climbed on a tractor when he was 4 years old and fell off it and lost his left leg. His dad asked him, "The doctor will have to amputate your leg. Are you afraid?" He couldn't comprehend what would be so different so he said no. His dad said, "You are going to face many challenges and difficulties in life, are you afraid?"
He asked, "What are 'challenges and difficulties?' Do they taste good?" His dad laughed with tears, "Yes, they're like your favorite candies. You just need to eat them one piece at a time!" (Then his dad ran out of the room in tears.)
So he's always very optimistic and athletic with a great sense of humor. He had tried high-jump, long-jump, diving, swimming, and just settled on cycling.
His coach believed that he would be able to get 2-3 gold medals in the national special Olympics games. (In the video interview, you can see him doing a bridge with great ease!)
He initially didn't understand how he could "dance," so Li invited him to see her performing "Hand in Hand" with another male actor. He felt that he saw a perfect soul dancing on the stage and agreed to give it a try.
Li & Tao treated him like their younger brother and they stayed under the same roof during the more than 1 year of intensive training and practice. One would not be able to imagine the kind of challenges and difficulties they faced. He had NO dancing background and she is a perfectionist. There are so many touching stories.
Much determination has gone into the making of this performance. Just for that one "drop" move at 3:41 of the clip, he landed her on the hard floor more than 1000 times!!! To get the move right, they started at 8 a.m. and got the first successful move shortly after 8 pm!
All they did was to train and to practice from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. day-in and day-out until the three of them ran out of money in early 2007 ...
The rest is history. In April they were one of the finalists among 7000 competitors in the 4th CCTV national dance competition. It is the first time a handicapped couple ever entered the competition. They won the Silver medal with the 99.17 high score and not to mention the highest audience popular votes. They became an instant national hit.

A new book brings together effective methods for teaching the Theology of the Body to teens in a variety of settings.
"Without fail, every time I have presented the concepts of the Theology of the Body to teenagers [in this way], I have seen their eyes light up, as if light bulbs were going on in their heads, and they were making connections they had never made before."
David Hajduk, author "God's Plan for You: Life, Love, Marriage, and Sex"
The need it meets
Young people are barraged with false messages about marriage and sex, but they have the innate desire for true love, authentic relationships, and a fulfilling life. Pope John Paul II's Theology of the Body cuts through the falsehoods. David Hajduk began sharing this message with teens: his own students as well as youth groups, retreats, and youth conferences.
Where it came from
David Hajduk was teaching a Family Life Class to 9th graders at a Catholic high school. Dissatisfied with the resources at hand, he began teaching the concepts of the JPII's Theology of the Body in a way teens could grasp and relate to. These classes eventually led to Mr. Hajduk’s writing God's Plan for You: Life, Love, Marriage, and Sex (Pauline Books & Media).
How it works
Written in a conversational style, the book is filled with real life applications, humor, and interesting stories, all anchored in Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the writings of Pope John Paul II.
Every chapter begins with a Scripture passage as a "springboard". Then there is an opening anecdote, story, or analogy that gets developed into a theme from Theology of the Body.
Each ends with thought-provoking questions which can launch group discussion, as well as words from the Catechism and John Paul II.
The results
Young people report developing a new understanding of themselves and their sexuality.
Students begin using the language of the Theology of the Body; it shapes their way of thinking.
God's Plan for You has received the endorsement of Bishop Arthur Serratelli (the Chairman for the USCCB Committe on Doctrine), Mary Beth Bonacci, Pam Stenzel, Tony Melendez, Steve Angrisano, and Father Frank Pavone.
It has received positive reviews in Our Sunday Visitor and the National Catholic Register and was awarded 2nd Place for Best Book By a First-Time Author by the Catholic Press Association of the United States and Canada for 2007.
Key elements
Creating an environment of ongoing dialogue with teens is key.
Offering an alternative vision that will reach their hearts and expose the false messages that are empty and unfulfilling.
Trust: Teens have an innate hunger for the truth, yet their openness to the truth is often dependent upon how much they feel they can trust you -- how authentic you are.
Understanding: Trust, in turn, is often based on how much they think you understand them and genuinely care about them.
Both parents and youth ministers/catechists/religious educators need to be proactive in creating this sort of environment. Within this context (or even as a way of creating this environment) God's Plan for You can be a useful tool.
How to implement it
This book may be used in a classroom setting (from which it was originally developed).
Some parishes have used it for teen discussion groups.
Catechists and youth ministers can use each chapter as an outline for a CCD class or a youth group.
Parishes have given God’s Plan for You to the newly confirmed.
Empower parents: help them to communicate with their teens about God's plan for life, love, marriage and sex.
Present an overview of the Theology of the Body at parents' nights, explain why it is an effective way of presenting these life issues to teens, then offer suggestions for using God’s Plan for You in the home.

Theology of the Body for Teens is a life-changing chastity program winning rave reviews from teens and teachers.
"I've been involved in Catholic education for 20 years as a teacher and administrator, and I've seen how teenagers are at a most spiritual time. This program is extremely timely and it touches all aspects of their development: mind, body, soul, and spirit. It is a tremendous source of hope for the young amid the culture of death. It gives them an insight into the theology of the Church that I have not seen in any other program." Rev. Robert Knippenberg, Diocese of Victoria
The need it meets
Teenagers' sexuality emerges as they search for meaning in their lives, and they are bombarded by a consumeristic view of sex and relationships. Theology of the Body for Teens: Discovering God's Plan for Love and Life is a Catholic curriculum tailored to helping them understand the positive significance of their sexuality and ultimately the purpose of their lives in light of God's plan.
Where it came from
Pope John Paul II taught "The Theology of the Body" in 129 lectures during his Wednesday audiences from 1979 to 1984, covering topics such as the nature of human sexuality, the human need for communion, and the nature of marriage.
"The Theology of the Body for Teens" adapts this message for today's teen. Its three primary authors—Brian Butler, Jason Evert, and Crystalina Evert—are recognized leaders in youth ministry and chastity education.
The Leader’s Guide and Student Workbook have the Imprimatur of Justin Cardinal Rigali, Archbishop of Philadelphia.
How it works
Training session. First, diocesan youth ministers, campus ministers, priests, parents, DREs, and high school teachers attend a diocesan-wide training program usually for parish staffs.
Small groups. The trained leaders then organize their own small groups in schools and parishes where they serve.
How to organize small groups. Each chapter can be presented either as a single sixty-minute lesson or as two lessons for 120 minutes, depending on the time available and needs of the class.
The package includes: an opening prayer, icebreaker, texts for reading aloud, questions for guided discussion, activities, application exercises, audio-visual aids (companion DVDs and suggested movie clips), and a closing resolution to put into practice at home.
A Spanish-language version is scheduled for release in 2008.
The results
Shiner Catholic Church in Shiner, TX, uses the program for its 12th grade parish high school students and 10th grade CCD students. Over two years, Fr. Knippenberg said it has provided:
Substantial answers to deep questions. Students gain a deeper understanding of their human sexuality, the Catholic faith and the meaning of their lives. "It has been amazing as a teacher to watch their 'aha' moments and to see the scales falling from their eyes," said Fr Knippenberg.
A greater sense of their own dignity, especially the adolescent women. They are more confident and demand more respect from young men.
Deeper confessions. The students seek confession more often, understand better what they confess and are able to make deeper changes in their attitudes and behavior.
Spiritual awakening, shown in a desire to share the faith with others. One young lady asked for the materials so that she could teach her boyfriend what she had learned. An entire group of seniors who had been through the program volunteered to serve at an 11th grade Confirmation retreat so that they could share the faith they now understood more deeply.
Rave reviews from teens. Teens across the country have enjoyed the program, saying that it was "eye-opening" and "very nonjudgmental and informative." They felt "encouraged, not condemned." Students report that the real-life stories and examples reach them on their level.
Key elements
The training session has been shown to be a significant help in equipping leaders to teach the proram.
Leader’s Guide provides helpful teaching tips and discussion questions for each topic.
The DVD series provides an overview and introduction to each of the twelve chapters.
Optimum ages: high school, mainly 10th - 12th graders.
How to implement it
Visit the Theology of the Body for Teens web site at http://www.tobforteens.com/default.asp
Download the promotional materials and purchase the study materials and leader's guide.
Organize an information session for the diocese, led by a teacher of the program and/or a representative from Ascension Press.
Schedule a training session for the entire diocese and promote it for all parishes. Training sessions are geared to DREs, youth ministers, pastors, teachers, and students who play leadership roles in ministering to young people.
After the training session, each participant organizes his or her own small group sessions to begin the 12-part study series.
